Employment Rights Act 2025 Hub

The Employment Rights Act 2025 was granted Royal Assent on 18 December 2025, over 14 months after the original Bill was first published.

It followed a protracted passage through Parliament during which the Government had to concede a number of amendments, most notably the removal of ‘day 1’ rights to claim unfair dismissal.

The Act introduces a very wide range of workplace reforms and has been described as the biggest upgrade to workers’ rights for a generation. It is the first phase of delivering the Government’s broader Plan to Make Work Pay, with major reforms taking effect in stages throughout 2026 and 2027.

In order to keep track of the measures being introduced under the Act, and the various consultations that will be conducted over forthcoming months, we will publish related articles and information on this page of our website.
